Do you remember way back when, when you could eat whatever you wanted and not even have to think twice about whether or not it was going to affect your body? Well… I sure do miss those days. I used to eat Taco Bell and Top Ramen everyday, and could throw back a few beers and wouldn’t gain a pound. Fast forward to today, and that’s not the case anymore… Like at all! My husband and I are on a mission to bring our sexy back, so we definitely have to change how we eat. These Lettuce Wraps were the start of it for us.
Start out by chopping up the Green Onions, Ginger, Onions, and Water Chestnuts. Heat up some oil and start browning the Ground Turkey.
There really wasn’t any fat drippings from the cooked Turkey, so I didn’t have to drain anything. Once the Turkey starts to brown, add in all of the chopped ingredients, except the Water Chestnut. Once the chopped stuff starts to soften up, pour in the sauce mixture, which should probably be prepared ahead of time as well. It’s a mix of Hoison Sauce, Soy Sauce (I used Liquid Aminos), Rice Wine Vinegar, and Sriracha.
When the ingredients start to soak up the sauce, add in the Water Chestnut. Let it soak up the sauce, then add in the Green Onions at the end. Stir it up then turn off the heat.
If you were tired of reading all of the steps, have no fear because you’re almost done. Plate the meat mixture and line up some lettuce. Butter lettuce cups are usually used, but I used what I had on hand, which was Romaine Lettuce. And might I say, “YUM!” Until next time…
1 Tbsp Olive Oil Sauce: -Heat Olive Oil in a pan over med-high heat.
Turkey Lettuce Wraps
1 Lb Ground Turkey
2 Cloves Garlic (minced)
1 Onion (diced)
1 Tbsp Ginger (grated)
1 8oz Can Water Chestnuts (diced)
2 Stalks Green Onions (diced)
Salt & Pepper to taste
1 Head of Lettuce
1/4 C Hoison Sauce
2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
1 Tsp Sriracha
-Add the Ground Turkey and cook until slightly brown.
-Stir in the Garlic, Onion, and Ginger until softened.
-Pour in the sauce mixture and stir to incorporate.
-Add the Water Chestnuts and stir to soak up the sauce.
-Add the Green Onion and stir to incorporate.
-Serve with Lettuce.
